Police kill notorious kidnapper "Ogbanje" in Imo State.

The Imo state police command has recorded a major breakthrough in the fight against armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state. The command yesterday killed one Emeka Osueke popularly known as Ogbanje, a notorious criminal and leader of an armed robbery and kidnap gang that has been terrorizing the state.
Displaying the dead body of the late gang leader at the Imo state police headquarters in Owerri, the Imo state capital, the state commissioner of police, Mohammed Katsina said the late armed robber was identified to be responsible for various bank robbery attacks and kidnap cases in Imo state and other neighbouring states especially the deadly robbery attack that left three people dead including 2 policemen at Naija Plaza hotel in Oguta council area of the state last February.
Mr, Katsina said the gang was rounded up by the command Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad after a massive gun duel at their hideout in Umutako Ifakala in Mbaitoli council area of the state while finalizing plans to attack a prominent woman politician in the state who was attending the annual women August meeting. However, other members of his gang who were said to have been over powered by the superior fire power of the police escaped and are still at large. The Police recovered from the scene of their hideout, 162 live ammunitions of AK-47, seven magazines of AK-47, one military assault rifle and one AK-47 assault rifle which was snatched away from one of the policemen killed at Naija Plaza hotel Oguta. In a related development, the command also paraded some suspected kidnappers who attacked a traditional ruler, Eze Basil Nwokeke in his palace at Ihitte Uboma council area of Imo state and kidnapped his wife.
The police commissioner said that following a tip-off, the Special Anti Kidnapping Squad swung into action and four suspects were arrested after a gun battle. The Imo state police command has reassured that no stone will be left unturned in its quest to ensure that Imo state is free of kidnapping and other criminal activities.
