Ithaa Maldives. Five meters below sea level against the beautiful sea life of the Indian Ocean off the Maldives, Ithaa is a clear dome that seats 14 people amid the beautiful coral, fish, plants, stingrays and sharks. It cost around $5 million to build and they have to pay for that investment, so the food is ridiculously expensive. Just for starters, the 23-course tasting menu is $300. The food is mostly western with a little Maldivian influence.

WHY PERSECUTE A MAN FOR HIS GOOD DEEDS?

Image
Emeka Offor is a man who rarely talks rather he wants his philanthropy and hard work to speak for itself.  This son of a Policeman who was born in Kafanchan braved the odds to become a successful businessman that he is today. He has dealt poverty a great blow and has tried his best to ensure that the pangs of poverty would not hinder the dream of the Nigerian child today. Recently he gave a whooping 1 million dollars which was added to the initial 250 thousand dollars he donated to the Rotary Foundation polio plus programme, for the eradication of polio in Africa. His donation was added to the 2 million dollars donated by Bill & Melinda Gates foundation to militate against this ugly disease that has ravaged Africa for years. I then wonder why some group of persons would castigate and vilify him for this kind gesture to humanity.

DMX dozes off in Cops car during DUI bust

Image
DMX was either wasted, exhausted, or both following his DUI arrest Friday morning  because he passed the hell out once he got inside the squad car  and TMZ has obtained dash cam footage of the entire bust. The rapper was popped in South Carolina around 3AM Friday after police determined he had been driving under the influence. It wasn't immediately clear whether X was busted for alcohol or some other substance  but based on the dash cam footage, it appears to have been for alcohol  and not just because X was a little sleepy. In the footage, the cop asks X if he's been boozing, and X says he had one drink  but later it sounds like he admits to drinking "4 or 5" (the audio is pretty bad). Despite the drinks, X insists he's not too drunk to drive. The cop doesn't buy it. X was booked for DUI and hauled to a nearby station. He was released from custody roughly an hour later. http://www.tmz.com/2013/07/28/dmx-arrest-footage-dash-cam-drunk-dui-video/?adid=hero4

ANAMBRA 2014: One office, multiple contenders by Chinwoke Akoma

Image
In the run up  to the November 16, 2013 governorship election in Anambra State, virtually all the political parties and aspirants seem yet to find their rhythm. The election holds barely 90 days away to elect  Gov  Peter Obi’s successor. Analysts blame the scenario on  the delay by  the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in releasing the guidelines and timetable for the election. The aspirants had been cautions not to run foul  of the laws, or be seen as jumping the gun when the Commission had not given the green light to start campaigns. The green light finally came some three weeks ago. The contest is characterised by intrigues and scheming by the various political blocs and camps.

Image
THE Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will meet today on the ongoing strike embarked upon by university lecturers over the non- implementation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement. The minister said he never made such a statement and that he only appealed to the union to return to the classrooms while negotiations continued. Last week, the two opposing sides had met with the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Education to find a solution to the crisis, so students could go back to school, but the meeting ended in deadlock and the two groups were told to go back and review their positions to come back on a latter date.

Why I support Al-Mustapha- Fasheun

Image
Founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr Fredrick Fasehun, has declared that late Alhaja Kudirat Abiola was a staunch member of the organisation. Fasehun made the claim, on Friday, in Lagos, at a press conference he held to clarify his support for Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, who was acquitted by a court of appeal in Lagos over the assassination of Kudirat. The OPC boss said despite the fact that some quarters had tried to crucify him for his stance, his sympathy remained with the Abiola family, especially the children of Alhaja Kudirat, wife of late Chief MKO Abiola. “I knew Alhaja Kudirat personally. Maybe we can say it for the first time publicly: She joined OPC at the dawn of the group, and actively encouraged the growth of OPC. We worked together in NADECO. And throughout, Kudirat proved to be a woman of uncommon courage, a true Amazon. She did not deserve to die.   “Ironically, I was in detention for my role in OPC when she fell to the assassin’s bullet in 1996. The

Power situation worsens as Shell shuts down Afam VI power plant

Image
Nigeria’s power situation worsened Tuesday, as Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, shut down its 624 mega watts Afam VI Power Plant. Shell, in a statement signed by Mr. Tony Okonedo, Corporate Media Relations Manager, said the shut down is due to shortage of gas arising from the closure of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) as a result of crude oil theft related leaks. Prior to the shut down, he disclosed that the power plant was only supplying 105 mega watts of electricity to the national grid, due to insufficient gas supply. According to him, the shutdown of the TNP system, comprising the 28-inch and 24-inch streams resulted in the deferment of 150,000 barrels of oil per day, and also led to tank tops and non-evacuation of condensate from Okoloma Gas Plant which supplies Afam VI Power Plant with feed gas. He expressed concern about the negative impact of incessant crude theft activities on lives and environment in the Niger Delta, and also the loss of electricity to business

The condoms are 45 mm in diameter instead of the standard 49 to 56 mm diameter and will be distributed through schools. The box with six condoms can also be bought at shops for $7.
