Ebonyi State University hastens exams to avoid paying N5 million fine to ASUU

The 100 & 200 level students of Ebonyi State University are under intense pressure by the school authorities to finish their exams before the 10th of july in a bid to avoid paying five million naira fine to ASUU for non compliance with the current strike action. The 300 & 400 level students except those having carry overs are not among those affected as they rounded off their exams last week. From the chat i had with the affected students in the early hours of this morning they confirmed to me the fact that they  would be writing exams throughout the weekend, some students would be writing up to four papers in a day! They are not happy with the insensitive nature of the school's decision to quicken the exams in order to avoid paying the fine at the expense of their students. The students are just writing their first semester exams after they were set back by the School's closure due to the students violent protest against increment of school fees. For the school management to consider the students as the opportunity cost in a bid to avoid paying the five million naira fine is really an irrational action. From the way it is little or nothing can be done to stop the ongoing exams. All i can say is, may the odds be in their favour! May God save our educational sector.
