The Reds had already lost one of their star performers, Daniel Sturridge to a long term injury, and they have suffered more bad news as it emerged Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson will also miss the next few weeks.
However, their absence is seen as a chance for Joe Allen and Victor Moses to prove their worth.
Allen had a good game against West Ham, and the opportunity to play regularly could be the chance that he has been waiting for to establish himself at the club and build up his confidence.
Moses has fallen out of favour recently and has struggled to enjoy some game time but he has been challenged to view this as the opportunity to make a name for himself.
Martin Skrtel stepped up to the plate earlier in the season when he was called upon to face Manchester United, and the big defender made a name for himself with a superb performance as Liverpool won the match 1-0.
Skrtel hasn’t looked back since that match and has been a regular in Liverpool’s defence after struggling for a place in the team last season.
Liverpool are an improving team and Rodgers will likely be looking for his fringe players to prove that the Reds are also an improving squad.
