Meet the Dog who is unable to walk so gets around by pram

SADIE the two-year-old Shar Pei dog is causing quite a stir when she’s out and about in Llandudno.
The young pet can no longer walk and now gets around thanks to a new carrier pushed along by her owners.
Sadie is owned by Rhian McFadden from Llanrhos, and the dog would be totally housebound if it wasn’t for the sheer determination of her owners who have so far spent over  £3,000 trying to help their disabled pet.
Rhian said: “We first noticed Sadie had some mobility problems when she was a puppy, but by the time she was a one-year-old it was clear she had some major difficulties.
“Eventually we saw a veterinary orthopaedic specialist from Liverpool University’s Small Animal Hospital.
“Unfortunately our pet insurance wouldn’t pay for the treatment, claiming there were signs of this condition when she was examined as a very young puppy.”
Since then Sadie has undergone two operations, numerous  x-rays and a variety of medications, all of which the family has had to fund itself.
“In fact I’ve now used my savings and we are desperately looking at ways of making more money to help our beautiful Sadie,” she added.
Last weekend Rhian and her two daughters Jodie, ten, and Hannah, seven, spent several hours at a  car boot sale selling their belongings and raised £90 for Sadie’s special fund.
“We have another appointment with more orthopaedic specialists at the hospital in Wirral,” said Rhian.
“There’s a strong possibility they will want to take another CT scan and that alone will cost almost £1,000.
“They have told me she may need more intricate surgery if she’s to have any chance of regaining her mobility,” added Rhian.
“She’s such a beautiful dog. It’s heartbreaking to see her sad little face as she watches our other dogs romping on the beach.
“I just can’t give up on her now. We have come this far and we have been told the journey isn’t over.”
Rhian is looking at other ways of raising the much needed additional funds.
“I would love to hear from anyone who would consider donating a prize for a raffle. Could someone help me organise a sponsored walk, anything that will eventually help our lovely Sadie?”
The Shar Pei, or Chinese Shar-Pei, is a breed of dog known for its distinctive features of deep wrinkles and a blue-black tongue. The breed comes from China. The name translates to “sand skin” and refers to the texture of its short, rough coat.
