HIV/AIDS on the Rise in Kogi


Kogi State has recorded increasing cases of Hiv-Aids in the last two years because of the paucity of funds for the state action committee on Hiv-Aids, to engage in advocacy and other activities that would mitigate the spread of the scourge in the state.
The state programme manager, Dr Ibrahim Musa, who said that the state's national prevalence rating for 2012 was 5.8%, told Thisday on Wednesday that the agency's activities were being seriously checked by inadequate funding.
He stated that over 248,000 people were living with the scourge in the state out of which, only 172 573 persons were on the drug list of the agency.
