And now its finally here! "STILL OUR PRIDE OUR LAGOS"

The strength, prospects and potentials of a society lies in the hands of its young and vibrant population-the youths. Youths, with proper motivation and awareness, can play a pivotal role in nation building and national development. Events like the Arab Spring where fiercely brutal regimes were ousted through popular protests is a clear pointer to this assertion. In Nigeria however, such factors as self centered quest for political power, high rate of unemployment, retrogressive leadership and worst of all, apathy among youths have weakened and relegated the role of young people. Hence, the expression “youths are the leaders of tomorrow” sounds like a broken record to most Nigerians (especially the youths) as the current political, economic and social realities are in sharp contrast with the message the expression carries.
In an attempt to strengthen and re establish the role of youths in our society, an event tagged “Still Our Pride”, has been put together. This event an initiative of one of the fast rising entrepreneurs in Lagos, Hassan Bashir  Oluwakemi(CEO Suave Records), aims to project our society in a never before seen light so as to discard some stereotypes widely held especially in the international community about our country. It also seeks to create an avenue, through which the voice of Nigerians can be heard through its youths.  Also, politicians, stakeholders, captains of industry, entrepreneurs and civil servants would be invited to discuss issues of national interest so as to motivate and reignite the passion for nation building and patriotism among youths.

The strategic location of Lagos as the commercial hub of Nigeria and its status as a vast community home to people of diverse background, made organizers of the event, Suave Records and Music, choose Lagos as the venue for its maiden edition.  It is slated to take place on July 6, 2013 at Lagos Island.  Some of the high points of the show are comedy, drama, and dance as well performances by Bayzik, General Pype, Tysleek, DJ Raff Foxy and more. The event promises to be a fun filled package as the audience would be thrilled to the sounds of Bayzik’s hit banger “Our Pride” which describes the beauty and culture of Lagos and is also the theme song of the show.
