Senior Lecturer in the Creative Arts department of UNILAG resigns over allegations of sexual harassment.





On the 25th of June 2013, the Creative Arts students of the University of Lagos protested over alleged sexual harassment of female students in the department by their lecturers. The students stormed the Arts block in the morning with placards to register their grievance and later moved their protest to the Social Science department. Female students of the department claimed their lecturers were making life difficult for them by demanding sexual favours before they can pass their courses.

The University of Lagos Management under the Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahamon A. Bello, FAEng, then  set up a fact-finding panel to investigate the circumstances surrounding the allegations of misconduct against some members of staff of the Department of Creative Arts, which led to the students’ demonstration.Members include Prof. A. I. Mowete, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Chairman; Prof. (Mrs.) O. O. Aboaba, Dept. of Microbiology, Member; Prof. O. S. Oyediran, Dept of Building; Dr N. N. Chinwuba,    Dept. of Private and Property Law; Dr. F.C.N. Attoh, Department of Sociology and Mrs. Aderonke A. Ademola, of the Faculty of Business Administration, Secretary.
Their duty is  to look into various allegations that border on misconduct of some staff and students of the Department of Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts; To look into the remote and immediate causes of the students’ demonstration of Tuesday, June 25, 2013; To look into any other cause or related matter on the Management of the Department of Creative Arts and Courses/Programmes of students; and To consider any other related matter referred to it. They were given three weeks from the date of the inaugural meeting of the committee.
One of the lecturers fingered in the scandal, Dr Aniago Peter Emeka has resigned to avoid the wrath of the disciplinary panel that has already gathered a lot of incriminating evidence proving his involvement in the sex scandal. May God save our Universities!

300 Level Law Student of Unilag Shot!

                                                                         Mr Ola Fowowe a 300 level Law student in the University of Lagos was shot on Friday the 12th of April around the Abule-Oja axis of Akoka. Six million Albinos in Nigeria susceptible to Cancer.

Minister of Health: Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu With over six million Nigerians suffering from albinism along with its numerous challenges, the Albino Foundation Thursday commenced additional measures aimed at saving those with the condition  from cancer and other threats. As part of the measures, albinos were told Thursday at a conference to herald a one-week National Albinism Day celebration that they must be proactive to avoid anything that would endanger their lives. A speaker, Dr. Stella Chijioke, said in her presentation on “Healthy Living for Persons with Albinism” that albinos and other Nigerians  should also seek pre-marital counselling to avoid the proliferation of albinism.
