Senior Lecturer in the Creative Arts department of UNILAG resigns over allegations of sexual harassment.
The University of Lagos Management under the Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rahamon A. Bello, FAEng, then set up a fact-finding panel to investigate the circumstances surrounding the allegations of misconduct against some members of staff of the Department of Creative Arts, which led to the students’ demonstration.Members include Prof. A. I. Mowete, Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Chairman; Prof. (Mrs.) O. O. Aboaba, Dept. of Microbiology, Member; Prof. O. S. Oyediran, Dept of Building; Dr N. N. Chinwuba, Dept. of Private and Property Law; Dr. F.C.N. Attoh, Department of Sociology and Mrs. Aderonke A. Ademola, of the Faculty of Business Administration, Secretary.
Their duty is to look into various allegations that border on misconduct of some staff and students of the Department of Creative Arts, Faculty of Arts; To look into the remote and immediate causes of the students’ demonstration of Tuesday, June 25, 2013; To look into any other cause or related matter on the Management of the Department of Creative Arts and Courses/Programmes of students; and To consider any other related matter referred to it. They were given three weeks from the date of the inaugural meeting of the committee.
One of the lecturers fingered in the scandal, Dr Aniago Peter Emeka has resigned to avoid the wrath of the disciplinary panel that has already gathered a lot of incriminating evidence proving his involvement in the sex scandal. May God save our Universities!
