Echiejile, Oduamadi: Flight Hitches Wont Affect us

Super Eagles stars Elderson Echiejile and Nnamdi Oduamadi have vowed that the flight hitches they suffered yesterday will not affect their performance in Saturday's 2014 World Cup qualifier against the Flames of Malawi in Calabar. Echiejile finally arrived in Calabar alongside Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi after their Arik flight from Lagos eventually landed in Calabar late in the evening. But Brescia winger Oduamadi, who boarded Aero flight AJ 171 from Lagos to Calabar, could not touch down at the Margaret Ekpo Airport after the flight was diverted to Port Harcourt because of bad weather.

Echiejile told Complete Sports in Port Harcourt that though he was a bit worried when the plane he boarded could not land as originally scheduled, he was still happy to be in camp at last. "It wasn't funny," he told Complete Sports. "But all these setbacks won't affect my confidence and psyche ahead of the game. We all left our respective clubs to get the much needed result for our country to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and we are ready to achieve just that."
On his part, a highly distraught Oduamadi who is now expected to land in camp today also claims that he is mentally ready despite the initial flight hitches. "I'm grateful to God for the gift of life but I am always ready to serve my fatherland. I've been in touch with my coach and his assurances give me the much needed boost to perform well on Saturday," he said. With the arrival of the two players (Echiejile and Ameobi) only Nnamdi Oduamadi and John Ogu are now being expected in Calabar  today.
