Pandemonium As Mysterious Goat Delivers Human-Like Creature In Ekiti

A mystery was recorded in the rural community of Olori Oko near Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South-West Local Government of Ekiti State as a goat allegedly gave birth to a strange creature. Olori- Oko, a farm stead dominated by people of Ede and Modakeke in Osun State is about six kilometres to Ogotun Ekiti and three kilometres away from Ikeji Arakeji in Osun State, with about 500 residents, witnessed a huge, bewildered crowd that stormed the serene community from the neighboring towns and villages to catch a glimpse at the strange birth. Monaco Join Iheanacho Chase

Imo Police Arrests 56 Year Old Owner of Illegal Wine Factory

The Imo state police command has arrested a 56 year-old man, Mr Ogbubia Donatus for running a fake wine factory. While conducting newsmen round the factory located at Ugbele Atta in Njaba local government area of Imo state, the state commissioner for police, Mohammed Katsina said the command’s ambush squad on getting wind of the illegal wine factory monitored their activities for some time.

A suspect, Pius Edward; his wife, Fausat; and her mother, have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command in connection with the theft of N13m from Bishop’s Court, an Anglican church in Bodija area of Ibadan. Edward, a security man at the church was said to have broken into an office where the money was kept and made away with it.

Market Women Protesting Against INEC In Awka (Photos)

Hundreds of women on Sunday marched through major streets in Awka to protest against the Nov. 16 governorship election in the state. The women said they would not accept the result of the election because there was no voting in most parts of the state. They said they were disappointed with the conduct of the election and called on INEC to organise a fresh one.

Pirates Kill Headmaster And Cart Away Teachers’ Salaries In Bayelsa

Pirates operating in the waterways of Bayelsa State have killed a headmaster and carted away an unspecified amount of money meant for teachers' salaries.  The victim,  Weky Akparakazi, was killed when the gunmen attacked a passenger boat along the waterways of Aleibiri and Tuomo communities in Ekeremor Local Government of the state.  Akparakazi was said to be the head teacher of the  Community Primary School, Foutorugbene, in the LGA.

Video: LASTMA Official Caught Taking Bribe From Motorist

The Policemen are not the only bad guys on the road, as  motorist on a mission, deliberately committed a traffic offense and was promptly "arrested" by a LASTMA official who had no idea he was being set up. The official "charged" the "culprit" N8,000 and escorted him to an ATM to get the money. All the while, the whole conversation was being recorded on a mobile phone. UNILAG’s SSANU protests FG’s N1bn allowance

THE  Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), University of Lagos chapter, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the sharing formulae of the N1.6 billion earned allowances by the Federal Government. The chairman of the association, Mr Adekola Adetomiwa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the N1.6 billion was part of the issues contained in the agreement the association entered into with the Federal Government in 2009. He said the earned allowances comprised responsibility, excess workload and hazard allowances. He said a total of N30 billion was disbursed by the Federal Government to all the federal universities across the country for the earned allowance.

Police arraign woman accused of cutting off man’s tongue

The police in Lagos State on Wednesday arraigned one Jennifer Frank in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, accused of cutting off one Emmanuel Izokpu’s tongue. The accused, who resides at 2, Tajudeen Street, Afromedia Estate, Okokomaiko, is facing a two-count charge of assault and threat to life.

APC decries 22 hours curfew for Anambra poll

The All Progressives Congress has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission over its 22 hours no-movement order (from 12 midnight on November 15, to 10pm on November 16) for the Anambra State governorship poll, wondering why such an extended curfew should be imposed because of an isolated election. In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said even during general elections, people are allowed to move around freely from 4pm on election day.

The All Progressives Congress has engaged Lagos lawyer, Festus Keyamo, to write the Independent National Electoral Commission over the double registration saga of the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Willie Obiano, for the November 16, 2013 gubernatorial election in Anambra State. Keyamo, who has commenced his task, wrote INEC, calling for immediate action against Obiano, who admitted having been engaged in double registration.

Rector accused of killing staff over exposure of N1b fraud

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, Dr. Ineyi Douglas Ekpebu, has been accused of killing a senior administrative staff of the institution, Frank Moses, for exposing a N1 billion fraud in which he (Ekpebu) was involved. Two petitions to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission and the Nigeria Police by the chambers of Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Keyamo, said Moses was killed in his home in Bayelsa State by persons suspected to be protecting the interest of Ekpebu. Moses, according to the petition to the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, signed by Matthew Omonade and Esharefasa O. Samuel, was shot dead on November 8. He was said to have dragged the Rector to court for allegedly embezzling N1 billion of the polytechnic’s money.

Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has again praised the UJ Esuene stadium turf as one of the best in the country, but called for greater efforts in the area of maintenance. Keshi who spoke at the Media interactive session in Calabar on Wednesday, ahead of the final World Cup 2014 qualifying match next Saturday, said he was making his suggestion because the turf was better in the past when the team played its games there.

The Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has showered the sum of N1 million each to four players of the Golden Eaglets' team and the sum of N2 million to the assistant coach who are indigenes of Imo state. While receiving four of the players Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidiebere Nwakali, Chidera Ezeh and Uzoha Odinaka alongside the team’s Assistant Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke at the Government House in Owerri the Imo state capital, the governor congratulated the players for making the state and the entire continent proud in the just concluded U-17 World Cup competition in Dubai.

ASUU makes another demand: Calls for slash of lawmakers’ salaries by 2014

THE about five-month-old strike embarked upon by members  of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) may be called off next week. It was gathered that the union would conclude consultations with its members and may resume class soon. The union, it was also gathered, had asked the Federal Government to slash across board, salaries of National Assembly members, ministers and other political office holders by 2014. The demand was placed on the Federal Government at a marathon meeting leadership of the union held with President Goodluck Jonathan and other key government officials at the Presidential Villa, on Monday.

A 33-year-old man was allegedly held at gunpoint and forced to have sex with a woman in the backseat of a car after the woman’s female companion offered him a ride on the Near North Side over the summer. The man begged one of his tormentors  who demanded he place his hands on her breasts and buttocks during the July 26 attack  to stop, it was reported. He eventually escaped, running out of the car naked from the waist down and into a taxi where a cabbie helped him and drove him home to the suburbs, in Chicago.

This is because their children have been missing without trace since August 30, 2013, after  they were arrested by  operatives of the Abia State Vigilante Group [Bakassi] at the Redeemed Street, World Bank Quarters, Aba. Specifically, they were said to have been arrested by the Scorpion Squad of the Vigilante outfit based at Ekeakpara in Osisioma, Aba. This squad is said to be headed by one Ugochukwu Amaugo.

ASUU STRIKE: FG to give varsities N1.1tn in five years

Details of the  Monday/ Tuesday marathon meeting  between President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of Academic Staff Union  of  Universities have begun to emerge.The PUNCH  gathered on Tuesday evening that a key component of the agreement reached by the parties was  that the Federal Government  would  inject N1.1tn into public universities in the next five years. A reliable source, who made this known, also hinted that the strike would be called off anytime next week. He  said the government team which was led by President Goodluck Jonathan would release   N220bn yearly into the sector beginning from 2014. The source added, “The meeting should be the longest that we have ever had on this crisis but I can tell you that both parties were frank all through the discussions.

Paraga Peddler Gives Birth Inside Keke Napep!

A 28-year old Paraga seller (a popular herbal concotion), Basirat Ogundeji, has been delivered of a baby girl inside a tricycle popularly known as "Keke Napep" at Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. She went into labour on her way back home when the bus she boarded at Ikeja developed a fault and was being repaired by the bus driver at a bus stop in Oregun. When she could no longer bear the labour pains, she quickly sought the assistance of a woman who was selling by the roadside. They both took another tricycle to Oregun Flagship Primary Health Centre but she gave birth while they were on the way to the clinic. It was also learnt the baby’s placenta was later removed by the nurses on her arrival at the clinic. More when you continue ...

Globacom Slashes Blackberry Tariffs

Globacom has slashed the tariff on BlackBerry plans by half in an unprecedented move aimed at liberalising access to the modern tool for social and business networking. Announcing the new tariff in Lagos on Wednesday, the company in a press statement, said that in addition to the drastic tariff drop, there is also considerable increase in the data allowance for both BlackBerry 10 plans and the generic BlackBerry plans.
