Jonathan, Sambo Flag Off Stroke Prevention Programme


President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice President Namadi Sambo flagged off the Nigerian National Stroke Prevention Programme to be managed by the Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with teaching hospitals and Nigerians in the diaspora. Briefing State House Correspondents after the council meeting, the Minister of Health, Dr Onyebuchi Chukwu said that government is concerned about the spate of sudden deaths in the country among Nigerians in their prime age and urged Nigerians to embrace the programme which is at the reduced cost of N40, 000 (forty thousand naira). The council also approved the construction, delivery and commissioning of 100 ‘R’ class bouys for the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for the sum of $3.5 million to enhance safe navigation in and out of the ports and the reclamation of land in  water fronts at the cost of N9 billion. The federal government also revealed that it will welcome funding from the international finance corporations especially in gas infrastructure. The Federal Executive Council said it will give full support to the private sector to ensure that all privatised companies remain successful even after full hand over to the owners.
